Andrada welcomes challenge for Platinum Karaoke as PBA 3x3 team to beat

BIG man Yutien Andrada sees Platinum Karaoke as being under the radar for most of the teams in the coming PBA 3x3 Lakas Ng Tatlo.

The former Alaska center said that is understandable given three of his teammates in Karl Dehesa, Chris De Chavez, and John Ray Alabanza are all veterans and have been playing in the 3x3 circuit for a long time now.

The 30-year-old Andrada is actually just the new recruit out of the Platinum quartet that has been installed as the favorites in the inaugural leg of the meet starting on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

"Siyempre it's going to be hard (being a favorite) kasi for sure gusto kaming talunin nilang lahat dahil yung mga teammates ko experienced sila sa 3x3," he said about the team being considered as the team to beat.

"So definitely, it's going to be challenging and for sure, physical."

As someone playing 3x3 for the first time in a competitive level, Andrada said big adjustment had to be made by him especially coming off from 5-on-5 competitions, including the last four years as member of Alaska.

Action in 3x3 is fast-paced that there's little room really for players to commit mistakes, according to the big man out of De La Salle.

"Short term memory ka lang dito. Kahit may mali ka, kailangan move on ka na sa next kasi once na nag dwell ka agad sa mistakes mo, it will cost your team. Puwede kayo agad matalo kasi sobrang bilis nung game," he said.

Good thing, he has Dehesa, De Chavez, and Alabanza to guide and teach him the rudiments of the game.

"Ang daming difference niya from 5-on-5, so thankful din ako sa mga teammate ko at tinuruan nila ako paano mag-adjust agad sa 3x3," he said.
