Product Information
Plant statice seeds for amazing flowers! We planted statice flowers on the farm and instantly fell in love with them. They have lasted several seasons at our San Diego Farm and give us blooms that last forever. What more could you want from a flower? They are very easy to start from seed and require little extra care for happy plants.
Growing from Statice Seeds in Zone 9 and 10
Statice will easily overwinter and become a shortlived perennial in mild areas of Zone 9 and 10. On our San Diego farm, it lasted more than three seasons. Statice enjoys the spring and early summer the most but will provide blooms year-round. Harvest flowers often and heavily for best displays.
Growing from Statice Seeds in other Zones
Start statice seeds 5–6 weeks before planting outside in areas with colder weather. Make sure to harden off plants before planting outside. Direct seeding is not recommended.
Planting Statice Seeds
Transplanting is recommended. Light aids in germination; sow close to the soil’s surface, covering only with a light dusting of finely sifted soil. We like to start ours in the cool of the late winter or early spring and transplant out when the temperatures are around 60 degrees.
Growing Statice
If growing in a dry region like Southern California, statice requires little extra care besides additional irrigation. A light application of Darn Good Fertilizer at planting helps to get robust plants. Harvest blooms in the morning for the brightest colors. Statice flowers do not require water in their vases and can keep for weeks or even months as dry flowers.
