Happy festival Olongapo!
Every province here in the Philippines celebrates the feast day gracefully and so unique in different ways, each feast celebration is a manifestation of our authenticity, beliefs, norms and cultures. Some people celebrate a feast to thank their gods and goddesses, some are wishing for a prosperity and wealth, some people are just celebrating to be acquainted with their community and some people celebrate the feast to attract more people to boost tourism in their places. We usually celebrate it by sharing food at the table, a marching band and a parade with a colorful floats and costumes, a various type of a friendly competition and many other ways to bring smiles to other people who are here to celebrate with.
Olongapo is a small city in a Zambales, located in Central Luzon. Our city celebrates its annual festival every December 30, today is the time to celebrate it. I don't know much of its history, because I am not originally born here, I am here because my parents work is here, so we have no choice but to settle here, but it doesn't matter, because I am now a part of this community and its time for me to celebrate this time and embrace this culture.
