Orion, Bataan – St. Michael the Archangel Parish

The St. Michael Church is one of the oldest church in Bataan their patron saint is St. Michael the Archangel. The Church is the Biggest in Bataan. Its very near in our house, its a walking distance only. The Feast day is being celebrated every May 8.

According to orionbataan.com, this is our place in Bataan. Orion is very lucky having an old church the St. Michael Church, is one of the oldest church in the province. This was built 1871, Spanish Era.

St. Michael the Archangel Parish is the center of religious services and practices of the Roman Catholics in Orion. It is located in Barangay San Vicente, beside the Orion municipal building and town plaza. It is a spiritual ministration of Orion which once belonged to Abucay. Orion became an independent missionary center in 1667. The first minister was Rev. Domingo Perez. The church had an initial measurement of 50 meters long and 25 meters wide, excluding the convent. The church underwent expansion and rehabilitation as years passed by. September 1856, the church and the convent were badly damaged by the earthquake and were repaired in 1854. Rev. Ulpiano Herrero was responsible for the beautiful sacristy and marble altars. A sacristy and a cemetery was added during the American period.
