TRIP REPORT. Hiking up Roraima Tepui My son and I visited Roraima with Akanan Adventures. It was a fantastic trip (10 out of 10). We flew to Caracas where we were met at the airport and taken to our hotel. The next day we took a tour of the mountains between Caracas and the ocean, where we got great views of Caracas and the ocean. That evening we flew to Puerto Ordaz, where we were again met at the airport and taken to our hotel. Very early the next morning, we were picked up and driven through the Grand Savannah to San Francisco. The drive was about 12 hours. We had an excellent driver Pablo from Cruz de Bolivar. After a night in San Francisco, we started our trek. My son, who was not feeling well, was able to get a motorcycle to take him the first 11 km. The next four days we camped at beautiful campsites with no one else at the campsites besides our group . We were extremely grateful that our tour took place, despite there being only two of us! All in all, the trip was amazingly well organized. Juan Carlos, head of Akanan, always seemed to be in touch with whoever was accompanying us. Although we pretty much crossed the entire Venezuela and visited Caracas, we always felt that we were in good hands and never felt threatened or in danger. Most of the Venezuelans and indigenous people that we met were extremely friendly and curious. Overall, it was a fabulous experience, and I can highly recommend the trip, Venezuela and the Venezuelans. I almost never give a rating of 10, but this adventure definitely deserves a 10

Trekking Roraima was an amazing experience! It puts you to the limit mental and physically but all the effort is worthy. Akanan (Juan Carlos) did an extraordinary organization, he was always in contact and providing guidance on the trip. Our pemon guides Alejandro and Zuli were incredibly experienced and good to us. Eloy and Paula were well organized as well during the road trip from Puerto Ordaz to La Gan Sabana and the way back. The only bemol of my trip it was not bringing my own sleepping bag for low temperatures and the isolation or mattress. Akanan found some for me to rent but were not properly adapted to the weather and the isolation was extremely thin so I ended up sleeping on the floor. But if you bring your own, you will have the time of your life!

Roraima should be in everyone’s “to do list”... It sets a line before and after in your life. You will sleep on a huge block of peaceful energies that will help you find many answers. An adventure plenty of surprises, and Akanan will make sure you experience only the good ones!

Just to know the Tepui Roraima was a great blessing, it is an unique place in the world, full of incredible energy; it was 6 days of hiking and an opportunity to get new friends, to reflect on life, to enjoy the scenery and take countless pictures. Besides, the Akanan´s service was impeccable, exclusive and unique, the camping equipment was in excellent condition, the delicious food, the tourist guide was an expert about the place and Otilio and his family (porters of the village). Thus, Incredible services and people was always nice to the service with the group, and related to our security and to our well-being, they take care a lot. About the service from Puerto Ordaz until the return was excellent!. When I finished the Roraima trip, I came back in love of this experience and I am happy to know that there are tourism companies that can make everything work very well.

We did a 6 day 5 night trek and loved every second of it. Our guide Javier was fantastic and we couldn't have been in better hands...fun, safety conscious, very knowledgeable about the history of Roraima and the wildlife we encountered along the way, and genuinely a lovely person who respects the place he works and loves his job.We had a team of 5 Pemon porters, all from the same family...and they were terrific, plus Jesualdo, our driver who we wished would have done the hike with us! The porters prepared great food and made sure we were well set up every night to camp, and we were sad to say goodbye at the end of 6 days. Roraima itself, and it's sibling Kukenam are a destination worth the effort of getting there....and a world away from the problems in Venezuela right now. The hike up, and especially down, is hard on your legs, but worth every ache and pain. It's like being on another planet when you get to the top and truly spectacular. If you like adventurous hikes, and prefer to be away from crowds of people then Roraima/Kukenam should absolutely be on your list of treks to do.

This trip was better than in my dream. Alexander and his family were fantastic. The equipment very good. Food was good too (more than we usually eat !). Overall fantastic experience. Only thing I am unhappy about: we crossed the border to Santa Elena on a Sunday. But the Roraima experience was so amazing that it more than tampers the incident. Best. Christophe and isabelle. Roraima is a great trip. It is the right place to start to hike tepuys, because it is accessible and of relatively low difficulty. The walk by the plains (sabana), the hike to the top and the landscape at the top are just wonderful experiences. Akanan has developed a great logistics and expertise in this trip. Definitely they are the one to take you to this trip.

Roraima is an amazing place, totally powerful and special and Akanan Amazing Adventures makes it memorable. A well ogranized excursion, that brings you to varied experiences and enables you to interact with pristine nature and pure energy, I highly recommend it for family groups or to create new connections, there is so much to see than one visit is still little.
