Following a tragic accident at in South Korea where at least 16 concert attendants were killed after a ventilation grate they were standing on collapsed during a performance by girl group 4Minute, the band’s label has released a statement.
Many Fall to Their Deaths at K-Pop Concert in South Korea
“We can’t express how regretful they are for what happened,” said Cube Entertainment in a statement translated to English. “The performance wasn’t solely a 4Minute show, but a stage shared by many artists for an event. During their performance, none of the members or staff were aware of the accident and finished their complete set. It wasn’t until they arrived back in Seoul that they heard of the news regarding the accident. We hope the audience wasn’t hurt in this accident.”
As well, the alternative hip-hop trio Epik High has postponed the release of its new album to pay respects to the tragedy. This is how many acts reacted after a ferry disaster in April left more than 300 people dead or missing.
