Actress Lee Ji-Eun, also known as singer IU, made her first debut at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday.
Directed by acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda, the cast from ‘Broker’ set foot on the red carpet at the 75th Cannes Film Festival. Lee Ji-Eun walked alongside superstars like Song Kang-Ho, Kang Dong-Won, Lee Joo-Young and head of Zip cinema Lee Yu-Jin.
Lee Ji-Eun looked extravagantly elegant, leaving many fans cheering her on as she made her first steps on the lavish red carpet. Wearing an eye-catching open shoulder gown, she responded to fans and press by signing autographs, albums and photos as well as blowing a sweet kiss.
After the official screening of 'Broker' which was world premiered on the day, the audience delivered a standing ovation for around 12 minutes. Lee Ji-Eun was seen tearing up after the viewing as many remarked on how well she portrays the image of her character, So-Young, who is a mother that goes back to the ‘baby box’ in search for her baby.
The Cannes Film Festival is an annual event held for two weeks during the month of May. There are 21 films in the competition section for the Palme d’Or Award. Within this, there are two Korean films that have made it through this year, including ‘Decision to Leave’ (directed by Park Chan-Wook) and ‘Broker’ (directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda).
