4 dead, 26 injured in multi-vehicle accident in Dinalupihan, Bataan

At least three people were killed while 26 others were injured in Dinalupihan, Bataan when a bus driver lost control of his vehicle due to brake trouble and hit several vehicles, according to the report of James Agustin on "Unang Balita" on Thursday.

An update on X (formerly Twitter) by Agustin said the death toll has climbed to 4.

The accident occurred a few minutes after 7 p.m. on Wednesday along Jose Abad Santos Avenue, Barangay Bangad in Dinalupihan, Bataan.

Emergency personnel were deployed and proceeded to treat the injured passengers and bring them to the hospital.

Based on initial investigation, the passenger bus was from Pampanga and was on its way to Olongapo City when it hit a motorcycle, two tricycle units, an L300 van, before colliding with a passenger jeepney on the opposite lane.

The jeepney was from Olongapo and was on its way to Bataan.

With the force of the impact, the jeepney fell to its side while the bus went straight to the side of the road.

The 54-year-old bus driver, who is in the custody of the police, blamed the vehicle's malfunctioning brake for the accident.

GMA Integrated News is trying to get a statement from the management of the company that owns the bus.

The driver will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to properties. — BAP/KBK, GMA Integrated News
