If you really think about it, Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw was always about balletcore. After all, that famous ice-blue tutu from Sex and the City's opening theme has been immortalized in a museum exhibit. But in real life, SJP is also a patron of the arts and a longtime fan of the New York City Ballet. This year, at the organization's 2023 Fall Fashion Gala at Lincoln Center, Parker paired a ballet-inspired Carolina Herrera dress with one of Carrie's signature style moves: mismatched shoes.

While her outfit was all black, SJP accessorized her voluminous, tutu-esque dress with a dramatic, long hair bow that reached the hem of her flared skirt. The dress also featured a very dance-inspired off-the-shoulder bodice and peeks of skin with a column of keyhole cutouts down the front. Down below, she wore one ballet pink shoe and one black one, recalling the SATC episode "Escape From New York," where Carrie and co. head to Los Angeles and everyone's favorite columnist wears two different colored Christian Louboutins. SJP didn't add a necklace, but she did carry a blingy bag to finish off her look as well as a watch from Vacheron Constantin.

Parker did explain the choice in an Instagram comment on the account EveryOutfitOnSATC, writing, "We had 2 pairs of what I believe are @louboutinworld scrappy [sic] sandals. Pat and I chose to do 1 of each. Perhaps because both were so delicious in color and seemed in harmony with the dress but also because we simply loved doing 1 of each. Sending my best. And hope this is a satisfactory answer. Xxx."

Sarah Jessica Parker eventually offered fans to get in on the action, selling the Rogue sandal from her SJP shoe brand in two colors. The shoes, which came with one pink and one yellow rhinestone-buckled stiletto, retailed for $385 and a portion of the proceeds went to benefit The Empowerment Plan back in 2020.
