      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Legend of the Seeker aspires to high fantasy but feels too derivative of more imaginative fairy tales, though viewers in search of lush vistas may get a kick from the series' gorgeous New Zealand backdrop.

Latoya Peterson Bitch Media As I get closer to Season Two, I am still holding out hope for some kind of resurgence of independent spirit in Kahlan. Dec 23, 2020 Full Review Lucy Mangan Guardian This is not postmodern, camp rompery like Xena or Hercules. It is as if Raimi and his team have contracted RSI of the eyelid and can undertake no more winking for the duration. It is curiously refreshing. E'nj'oy. Jan 3, 2019 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times The show should offend only the purest of purists. It is, basically, good-looking fun, and if I say that much of this might have been written by a 12-year-old, you must understand that I mean that as a good thing. Jan 3, 2019 Full Review Kevin Carr 7M Pictures For syndicated television, this series looks pretty sharp. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 4, 2019 Full Review Collider Staff Collider While it's far from the worst show on television, it commits the worst sin of all, and is completely forgettable. Rated: C Jan 3, 2019 Full Review Tom Gliatto People Magazine It wants to be Tolkien TV but at this point lacks a sense of epic magic. Jan 3, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

T E This was a dismal representation of the Top 5 book series. Sam Raimi continued to demonstrate he's washed up. There is nothing redeeming about this series; from writing to cast, to plot. If you compare to what they did for Harry Potter, LotR, and others, this is not that. This is the opposite end of the spectrum, where the Shannara TV series rests in muck. Fans of the book series... you know, "fans"... avoid this. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/22 Full Review Audience Member Every episode was a delight. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review ripper j The writing is excellent although the plot is usually predictable. Great world building. The characters have depth and the acting is really good. Definitely worth watching. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a very complicated series - good to pass the time, has a simple plot to follow. Writing and acting is rather mediocre, but definitely worth the watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I read the books and it doesnt follow it at all but I still LOVED it!!! Just treat it like an independent story with these characters and dont compare to the books Nd you will enjoy it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member amazing show absolutely love it, been rewatching it for years can't get enough just so captivating!!!
