Ines De La Fressange

Just Like Mother

PARISIAN CHIC, according to Ines de la Fressange, is easy. Her new book of the same name is a step-by-step guide to looking cool, chic, stylish, and above all nonchalant, as only Parisian's can - and it seems she's passed the "Parisian style DNA" on to her daughter, Nine. SEE NINE DE LA FRESSANGE HERE Nine is seventeen and is being courted by every brand and magazine you might mention, but having turned down all offers to focus on her studies (including the cover of French Elle), she relented and agreed to appear in the campaign for Bottega Veneta's debut fragrance. "She turned down everyone," Ines de la Fressange told us. "Even someone from Vuitton stopped her in the street, but she wants to study. She said, 'Mum, I chose a course in Ancient Greek - is that ok?' I said, 'Well, yes, that's ok...'! She's done Bottega but who knows what will happen. No one can choose to be a model. You can't choose, you must be chosen. And no one can be a model all your life...except me!" SEE WHAT INES TOLD US ABOUT LAGERFELD Nine did consent to modelling for her mother's new book, Parisian Chic, however and - alongside her mother's illustrations - helps to document how to dress comme un Parisienne. "You don't need to be born in Paris to have Parisian style," the book says. "I'm the perfect example, born down south in Saint-Tropez! Parisian style is an attitude, a state of mind. Between rocker and ho-hum bourgeois, a Parisian is always first, never second. A Parisian steps lightly around the fashion traps of the day. Her secret? She breathes the air du temps and puts it to good use, her way, and always with the same aim: fashion should be fun. The Parisian follows a few golden rules, but she likes to transgress, too. It's part of the style. C'est facile!" GO INSIDE PARISIAN CHIC HERE** Parisian Chic is available now from Selfridges, priced £19.95. YOU SHOULD SEE: Fashion's most stylish mothers and daughters...
