Comelec sees proclamation of winning Senate bets, party-list reps on Tuesday

MANILA, Philippines – The proclamation of winning senatorial candidates and party-list group representatives will most likely happen on Tuesday, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Spokesperson James Jimenez said Monday.

“I think at this point, it is a pretty sure bet that we’re going to have the proclamation tomorrow,” Jimenez said in a press conference at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

Jimenez added that the poll body, which sits as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), is still waiting for the certificate of canvass (COCs) from the Isabela province, which is expected to arrive Monday evening.

The NBOC has yet to canvass COCs from Isabela, Japan,  Saudi Arabia, Washington DC in the US and Abuja in Nigeria when it resumes its session on Monday.

He revealed that the winning party-list representatives will be proclaimed first in the morning, while the senators-elect will be proclaimed in the evening.

“It’s one proclamation, it’s just that may mahaba-habang intermission in between pero ‘yung intermission is really for the purpose of preparing the venue,” the Comelec spokesperson said. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
