Professor Susan Duncan has spoken to Express.co.uk about the affect aphrodisiacs can have on the body. 

This includes whether or not they have certain unwanted repercussions on the body.

It turns out they might not make you feel very well, and there are some foods to avoid if you're the type of person who might get 'over excited'.

Thankfully, moods are longer and may last for minutes or even hours and are highly affected by who you are with and the atmosphere you are in. 

She explained: "We are complex creatures, so there’s no hard and fast rule on how long the food you’ve eaten will affect your emotions or mood."

So here's the million-dollar question. How long before 'love making' should you eat aphrodisiac food? 

The professor explained: "As there’s no hard and fast rule on how long after eating food can affect your emotions, it would be suggested that you enjoy aphrodisiac foods about a dinners-length of time before lovemaking."
