The Miss Universe pageant sure has seen its fair share of drama this year. Sirey Moran first won the title of Miss Universe Honduras 2016 back in November of last year. And despite months and months of prep to compete in the Miss Universe pageant, the organization that owns the rights to the entire event in Honduras — Carimaxx — has just announced that they are revoking Sirey's crown. According to the LatinTimes, this is due to "contractual issues" and claims of violence and diva-like behavior, but that's not all there is to the story...

The whole thing started on the night of June 30. According to Sirey, Carlos Rivera, the director of Carimaxx, invited her over for a discussion at his New York City residence. In a statement to newspaper El Heraldo, the beauty queen claims that she went to his home to discuss her participation in an event that he hadn't authorized — and things quickly went downhill. She says that Carlos and another male physically and verbally attacked her while trying to take her cell phone, after realizing she had been recording their conversation. (Apparently, things had gotten pretty heated during their chat.) Sirey says she then ran out into the street and called the police.

But that's not exactly how things went down, according to Carlos, who issued his own statement to another newspaper called La Prensa, denying all of Sirey's allegations. "I never hit her," he said. "That is my truth." He did admit that he had kicked her out of the pageant though and that he no longer wanted to work with her. Carlos is set to name her replacement competitor within the next two weeks.

Right after this shocking announcement was revealed, Sirey made a statement to E! News about the traumatic experience. "It is very unfortunate that this has happened and I am very disappointed and hurt, violence is never the answer," she said. "I am working with the proper authorities here in the United States and Honduras and am confident in how they are handling the situation for me."

And Sirey isn't giving up her crown quite so easily. Not only has she recently posted an image to Instagram thanking all of her fans and followers for sticking by her, but she's also also said that she still hopes to be able to compete for Miss Universe and represent her home country in the pageant.
