Heidi Connolly's fight for her life

On behalf of my sister Heidi, who is fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer, liver cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes.

 

When life is good, how often do we take it for granted?   After several weeks of back pain and seeing a chiropractor for what she thought was a result of playing with her grandchildren.  Last week we learned our sister, who just turned 60 in September, has cancer that has spread, Stage 4!   How do you go to bed feeling grateful for all you have, and have it all ripped out right under you the next day? Our sister is a nurse who has always been the family's caretaker and other families. She was always our go-to person when we weren't feeling well.   Our healing angel on earth. Since the diagnosis, she has been out of work and cannot return to work.

 

Now it's our turn to take care of her.   No one knows how long she has left on this earth, but we are determined to make each day count. She will start her treatment at MGH as soon as possible.    As she begins this long treatment process, there is no cure for this type of cancer as it has spread to her pancreas, liver and lymph nodes.    We will be there by her side every step of the way.

 

Today we ask you to give what you can to support Heidi and her family. Medical bills should be the last worry for her and her family, but they are a reality. We are doing everything we can to ease her fear and give her the strength she needs and the faith that she will survive. It is hard to find the words to ask for your help, but if anyone deserves and needs help, support and prayers, it is our sister, Heidi.
